Vapor condensation mechanisms on hierarchical nanostructured surfaces with hybrid wettabilities that are inspired by the Namble desert beetles are revealed. The introduction of collection regions on hierarchical nanostructured surfaces improves the exposure frequency of nucleation sites, which can boost the vapor condensation performance.
